Which movie is this? The Big Sleep? Lately I've been hankering to read an old Hammett or Chandler novel. It's been a while. But maybe i'll get one of these old movies to whet my appetite. If you get a chance, check out Murder My Sweet, starring Dick Powell. It's based on Farewell My Lovely by Chandler. It's really worth it.

"Dead Reckoning"
Bogart tries to track down his wartime pal Johnny, who took a powder rather than show up to receive his Medal of Honor in Washington. Following a tip he heads south and ends up in Gulf City, where the only thing steamier than the weather is the beautiful Lizabeth Scott, whose fatcat husband was murdered by Johnny before the war...or was he?
