the hideous berliner dom was built upon the site of the city's original cathedral built in 1465. Commissioned by Kaiser Wilhelm II, designed by Julius Carl Raschdorff and completed in 1905 the new church quickly earned the contempt of the populace for its overly ornate neo-baroque design. Postwar restoration was complete in 1993 and of particular interest is the restored Sauer Organ which survived WWII relatively unscathed despite the heavy damage to dom itself. the interior can only be described as vertigo inducing and has been compared to being trapped inside a wedding cake.
